Kimi

Kimi is Moonshot AI's browser based workspace for chat, research, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, websites, and coding. You can use it like a normal chatbot, upload a pile of files for analysis, or hand a larger job to an agent and wait for a finished report, workbook, slide deck, or working webpage.

The current product gives you several ways to work. K2.6 handles quick questions without using membership credits, while K3 takes on longer reasoning and agent jobs. K3 Swarm splits a large task across many subagents. Kimi documents this as supporting up to 300 subagents and more than 4,000 parallel tool calls, which suits research jobs with many companies, sources, or records to check.

The file tools are more substantial than a basic chat attachment box. Kimi accepts PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets, presentations, images, text, and video. You can upload files up to 100 MB each, with as many as 50 files in a session. Docs can compare contracts and assemble reports. Sheets can follow formulas and relationships across tabs, then return an editable XLSX file. Slides turns a topic or source document into an editable PPTX rather than a stack of flattened images.

There is also Deep Research, a website builder, Kimi Code for terminal and VS Code work, Kimi Work for local desktop tasks, and Kimi Claw for persistent cloud automation. That range makes Kimi a practical choice for people who regularly move between research and production. If you only need occasional chat, most of the interface will go unused.

A free version is available, alongside paid membership tiers. Credits are shared across agent work, Swarm, Slides, Code, Work, and Claw, so a few demanding jobs can use the allowance faster than ordinary chat. Generated research, figures, formulas, and citations still need checking before they go into client work or a published report.
