Semrush Content Toolkit is the newer version of ContentShake AI. ContentShake started as a focused AI writing tool that could turn a keyword into an SEO brief and article, score the draft, apply a brand voice, generate images, and send the finished post to WordPress. Semrush has moved that workflow into its main platform and expanded it into a broader content workspace.

You can begin with a topic, keyword, existing article, or plain language request. Topic Finder uses Semrush search data to suggest subjects with measurable demand. The SEO Brief Generator then assembles target keywords, subtopics, search intent, competitor information, and a proposed structure. You can hand that brief to a writer or use the AI Article Generator to produce the first draft.

The editor combines writing tools with recommendations for Google and AI search visibility. Existing articles can be pasted into the editor or imported by URL. Semrush checks topic coverage, readability, tone, structure, and signals that may help a page appear in AI generated answers. Suggestions are prioritised, so you can deal with the larger gaps before adjusting minor wording.

A finished post can be turned into email copy, social posts, and Google Business Profile updates. Chat and Board mode keeps prompts, briefs, drafts, and repurposed material together as movable cards. WordPress, Google Docs, Mailchimp, Semrush Social Poster, and Canva connections cover editing, artwork, approval, and publishing.

There is a short free trial, followed by a separate paid subscription. Standard article generation is generous, while advanced SEO boosted articles have a monthly allowance and additional credits. Generated drafts still need editorial review and fact checking, especially for specialist subjects. Teams publishing only an occasional article may not use enough of the research and repurposing features to justify another subscription.
