MaxAI puts an AI sidebar and context menu inside Chrome and Edge. Open a webpage, PDF, YouTube video, email, or document and you can ask questions about what is already on the screen without moving the content into another tab.
The browser extension is the main product. It reads the active page, summarizes it, finds specific details, explains selected text, translates passages, and answers questions using the page as context. PDF answers can include references back to the source, while YouTube summaries can include timestamps that jump to the relevant part of a video.
Select a sentence anywhere online and the context menu opens writing controls. You can shorten it, expand it, fix grammar, simplify the language, change the tone, translate it, or rewrite it completely. This works inside Google Docs, Gmail, Outlook, social networks, and other browser based editors.
The reply tools sit beside email and message fields. Give MaxAI a few notes and it drafts the full response. It supports Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, and several social platforms. Useful when the reply is routine. Less useful when the message needs tact, company knowledge, or an answer the model cannot find on the page.
MaxAI combines models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Meta, and other providers. Paid users can choose a model or send the same question to several models for comparison. The available model list changes regularly, so buying a subscription for one specific model is risky. Providers update, rename, replace, and retire models all the time.
Web search returns generated answers with links to the pages used. Paid access increases the number of sources and adds deeper source analysis. It is convenient for an initial scan, but citations still need opening. A linked page can support one sentence while the generated answer quietly stretches it into something broader.
There is also a web application with AI chat, search, writing tools, PDF conversations, and image generation. The browser extension makes more sense when your work already happens across websites and online documents. The web app suits longer conversations that do not depend on the page currently open.
A free account includes unlimited access to MaxAI’s basic chat model, limited file uploads, and a small daily allowance for the more capable models. Paid plans add broader model choice, higher file limits, image generation, voice input, model comparison, team management, and more detailed web research.
Read “unlimited” carefully. MaxAI’s terms of service restrict the product to normal human use. The company can apply query allocations, soft limits, and rate limits when usage becomes unusually heavy. Account sharing, automated access, scraping, and programmatic use are prohibited. This is a browser assistant, not a cheap API hiding inside an extension.
Privacy deserves a proper look because the extension works across the web. MaxAI’s privacy policy says it does not collect browsing or chat content, does not sell personal information, and collects a name, email address, settings, and technical reports. That policy was last updated in 2023. The Chrome Web Store listing separately discloses handling personally identifiable information and user activity. Anyone using confidential documents, customer records, contracts, or internal email should check the current extension permissions and policy before installing it.
MaxAI is useful when your day involves reading long pages, replying to repetitive messages, cleaning up drafts, and checking the same question across several models. If you mainly need a standalone chatbot, the extension adds little. Its value comes from being beside the page, PDF, email, or document you are already working on.
